Ceasefire in Gaza! Victory to Palestine!

After fifteen months of Israel’s US-funded genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian resistance and the occupying state of Israel have reached a ceasefire agreement. For the last 467 days, the masses of oppressed people around the world have struggled to intervene against the most despicable military in the world as Israel carried out ethnic cleansing in Gaza. In this time, Israel murdered at least 46,000 people in Gaza — although the real number is likely more than 200,000, as stated by the English medical journal The Lancet. Those statistics don’t even include the more than 4,000 murdered people in Lebanon.
From the very first day, the far-right Israeli government has been the only obstacle to reaching a ceasefire. Now, they have been forced to retreat. This victory belongs first and foremost to the steadfast Palestinian resistance in Gaza and the West Bank, and their allies in the region. However, the global Palestine solidarity movement has acted as a critical reserve for Palestine, weakening Israel through the struggle for boycotts, divestment, and sanctions. Every march, every rally, every stone thrown, and every shipment diverted has led to this moment. While we celebrate the ceasefire, we must recognize that Israel has not become any less genocidal. The US has continued its criminal support for the genocide to the final moment. An internal crisis created by the Palestine liberation movement has forced their blood-soiled hand to retreat. Much of the work we set out to do remains undone, particularly in the case of our universities and their role in normalizing and investing in Israel’s criminal occupation of Palestine.
The steadfast struggle of the Palestinian people has been the guiding and deciding force of progressive movements everywhere. The courage and strength of the Palestinians who choose resistance in the face of genocide every day has brought thousands of students and workers in the United States into the struggle to end US aid to Israel, and consequently into the struggle for our own freedom!
As students in the United States, we are proud to demand that the US government cease violating the sovereignty of countries in the Middle East, as well as repressing movements within the US as well. We follow in the footsteps of students with the same initial mission and values, from the anti-Vietnam War movement to the Civil Rights movement to the movement for divestment from apartheid South Africa. We will continue the struggle for as long as it takes!
Victory to Palestine!
End US Aid to Israel!
