National SDS Demands Justice for Corey Ruiz

National SDS Demands Justice for Corey Ruiz

The people took to the streets of Madison, WI in droves on July 22nd, just moments after MPD publicly executed Corey Ruiz, a 38 year old black man, at the center of a busy intersection on Madison’s east side. Wasting no time, dozens gathered outside of the police tape, which later grew to hundreds, and eventually reaching nearly a thousand demanding justice for Corey, condemning the brutal murder, and driving the cops from the scene.

Madison SDS and National SDS reiterates the cries for justice and accountability, and we urge the people of Madison, of Wisconsin, and of the whole country to take action. We would like to amplify the demands of experienced community organizations such as Freedom Inc., who for years have struggled for stronger Police Civilian Oversight as well as Community Control Over Police. From the Capitol to the campus, from MPD to UWPD and beyond, killer cops must be held to account.

Justice for Corey Ruiz!
Arrest the killer cop!
Community control over police now!
