SDS Condemns Attacks on Al-Aqsa, Demands End to US Aid to Israel

Students for a Democratic Society Condemns in the strongest possible terms the recent attacks on the Al-Aqsa mosque by Israeli military forces. The fact that the attack has occurred during the holy month of Ramadan makes it all the more contemptible. So far, over 500 Palestinians have been injured and over 400 have been detained in occupied East Jerusalem. Occupation forces used stun guns, tear gas, and batons to brutalize hundreds of Palestinians peacefully praying inside of Al-Aqsa mosque in early April.

Every year, the Israeli occupation ramps up its barbaric attacks on the Palestinian people during the holy month of Ramadan. The occupation is armed and trained by the United States with nearly 4 billion dollars in military aid going from US taxpayers to Israel every year. This aid allows Israel to colonize and ethnically cleanse Palestine and sends a blatant message of US government support for these policies. Despite this, the Palestinian people continue to stand strong in the face of Zionist terror. The Palestinian resistance struggles against these tremendous acts of violence and carries on the fight for self-determination and liberation for all of Palestine, from the river to the sea. They are heroes and serve as an example for all peoples fighting for justice across the world.

SDS reiterates its unwavering support for the Palestinian liberation movement, and condemns the atrocities that Israel continues to commit using US taxpayer dollars. SDS demands an immediate end to all US aid to Israel - not a single cent of our money should be going towards funding a violent, genocidal regime such as Israel. From its inception in 1948 to the present day, Israel is living on stolen land and borrowed time. It’s only a matter of time before the Palestinian resistance triumphs and establishes a free Palestine for all, from the river to the sea.
