SDS Stands in Solidarity with Palestine! End all US Aid to Israel!
On October 6th, the Palestinian resistance movement led coordinated attacks from land, air, and sea utterly humiliating the Israeli Occupation Forces [IOF], commonly known by the misnomer “Israeli Defense Force” [IDF]. Through these attacks, they have been able to seize the land stolen from them and are continuing to push further into Zionist territory. In light of this resistance, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said that Israel was “at war” for the first time since 1973. The Palestinian people are engaged in mass resistance to the Zionist occupation on a scale that hasn’t been seen since the Second Intifada.
For more than a century, the Palestinian population has endured a relentless struggle against both British and subsequently Israeli colonization. The pursuit of justice and self-determination for the Palestinian people has spanned a period of 100 years, with a pivotal moment occurring 74 years ago on May 14, 1948, when the state of Israel was established. This event, referred to by Palestinians as Al-Nakba, or "the Catastrophe," marked a tragic chapter in their history, during which over 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their ancestral lands.
Students For A Democratic Society stands in solidarity with Palestine resistance and demands no U.S. aid to Israel. We condemn the $8 billion in aid given to Israel by Biden that will lead to the death of more Palestinians. We take pride in our history as an anti-war organization, and we stand in solidarity with Palestine, and with armed resistance against an apartheid state. Further, as students, we have a responsibility to say no and fight back whenever the United States Government decides to take part in wars of foreign domination and Zionist occupation leading to countless innocent deaths. We stand unequivocally with the people of Palestine.
